De Haan, Jacob Meijer
(1852-95)
   Dutch painter. He was born in Amsterdam, where he ran a biscuit factory with his brothers. They also formed a string quartet which gained a reputation throughout the Netherlands. A disciple of Gauguin, he was a popular painter of Jewish subjects.
